Franchise Start Up and Turnaround
By Steve DeLay
I've sat in the seat of franchise executive and franchise owner when it comes to starting up or turning around a team. We've taken some of the most challenged teams in the most challenged markets and dramatically increased revenue and executed some remarkable start up success stories and franchise turnarounds. The core fundamentals are the same regardless of the sport:
Ticket Sales - Hire and train salespeople, develop the right ticket products and track everything.
Sponsorship Sales - Once you get tickets going in the right direction, we can help you revamp sponsorships and dramatically increase revenues while reducing the number of sponsors. Teams have seen increases of 250% and more with our sponsorship revamp.
Merchandise Sales - We've developed, designed and launched new team names and logos and refreshed existing names and brands. Our new logos have sold hundreds of thousands of dollars in new merchandise around the globe.
Organizational Structure and Management - To truly develop long-term success, you must have the right staff structure and responsibilities. We'll give you the formula for staff structure, budgeting and management.
The Savannah, GA market had been beaten up and abandoned by affiliated minor league baseball. The Savannah Sand Gnats were 13th in attendance in a 14-team league when they left 75 year old Grayson Stadium. We partnered with Fans First Entertainment to launch the Savannah Bananas in 2016 with innovative ticket packages and break-through sponsorships. The Bananas have averaged more than 4,000 people a game since their inception and sold out nearly 100 games in a row.
Macon, Georgia hadn't hosted a full season of baseball since 2001. In 2018, we launched the Macon Bacon in the Coastal Plain League. In our first season, the Bacon sold out half of our home games and finished 10th in the country in attendance in summer collegiate baseball. Our second year saw an increase in sellouts and a 19% growth of people in the ballpark.
Over the term of our leadership’s careers, we’ve helped found and launch numerous teams along with the Bananas and Bacon including the Dayton Dragons and Frisco Roughriders, two of the most prolific franchises in Minor League Baseball history.
